Make Your Own Teeth Whitener and Mouthwash

When it comes to your mouth, hydrogen peroxide can help a lot:

Tooth whiteners
According to the Cosmetics Database, commercial tooth whiteners aren’t too dangerous. They’re pricey, though. A much cheaper and easier fix is found with hydrogen peroxide. Simply dip a Q-Tip in hydrogen peroxide and apply to your teeth for 30 seconds before brushing. Apply once a day – you can start noticing results in a few days.

Mouthwash
Christy, a regular reader of Accidentally Green, shared that she makes an effective mouthwash with hydrogen peroxide and peppermint essential oil:

“My mouthwash isn’t anything special; it’s so easy! I just mix equal parts filtered water with 3 percent food-grade hydrogen peroxide and then add a few drops (depending on the strength of the oil and size of the bottle) of therapeutic-grade pure peppermint essential oil.

“It’s funny, all these years I’ve had lots of gum inflammation and as soon as I started using this mouthwash, I’ve had no issues! It’s great for preventing and curing ulcers as well.”

Thanks for sharing, Christy!

  4. Great tip! I was just contemplating buying some whiteners, and I already have a bottle of peroxide, so Im glad I stopped by and read this! :) Stopping by from the Living Well party.

  5. I have been wondering for quite a while if there was a natural way to whiten teeth beyond baking soda. For the mouth wash it says food grade hydrogen peroxide so is that the type you find in the drug store? (dropping by from WLWW)
